“Gassó was founded in 1862 as a distributor of rubber products.
From 1940, Jordi Gassó decided to specialise in the commercialisation of these products, and it was then that the first product warehouse was opened in the Plaza del Teatrol, Barcelona.
During the 1970s the industrial sector represented almost a third of the gross domestic product, a figure that during the second half of the 20th century was reduced due to the large growth of the services sector.
This increase meant that the domestic market was flooded with highly competitive foreign products and Gassó had to transform itself.
Ahí Gassó empezó a realizar sus primeras exportaciones y a realizar importaciones de productos más competitivos.
As a result of all these changes, the warehouse in Plaza del Teatro became too small and so we created Gassó in Barcelona, Tarragona, Madrid, Navarre, Seville and Lisbon. Our main objectives have always been to guarantee the best quality and to offer technical advice of the highest level in order to grow together with our customers.’
